3 powerful nutrients we can all benefit from

When it comes to living a healthy life, a balanced diet, regular exercise, quality sleep and effective stress management are the real basics we need to master. These are the foundations upon which we can build a happy and healthy life. And granted, every single person on the planet is unique and so there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to health.

However, when it comes to preventing premature ageing and extending your lifespan, there are three key nutrients we need to be focusing on that can really supercharge our efforts.

To biohack your biology and see a real difference in your health, here are the three powerful nutrients we can all benefit from…

NAD+

If you’re familiar with us here at NADclinic, then you’ll know how much we adore this miracle molecule. But if you’re new here, let us briefly explain what NAD+ is and why it’s so important to our health.

NAD+ stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. It naturally exists in all our living cells and helps with energy production in cells, which in turn is crucial to the ageing process, as it helps with DNA repair, chemical stress and inflammation.

As we get older, our levels of NAD+ naturally decline and this is what causes the internal and external symptoms of what we refer to as the natural ageing process i.e. stiff joints, loose skin, hair loss, fatigue and even chronic health conditions associated with age.

Increasing levels of NAD+ in the body through a NAD+ infusion, or anti-ageing drip, is one of the most effective ways to boost NAD+ and can lead to many healthy benefits such as reduced inflammation and oxidative stress, improved mitochondrial function, increased insulin sensitivity, autophagy regulation (cleaning out damaged cells), neurological repair and improved cellular function.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid protects fibroblast cells against damage, which plays a key role in skin ageing. It’s often referred to as nature’s moisturiser thanks to its water-retaining capacity. Because you can’t really get it through food sources, hyaluronic acid supplementation is an excellent idea.

The body naturally produces hyaluronic acid, but its content declines significantly with age, resulting in diminished skin moisture. Other environmental factors can also cause hyaluronic acid to reduce prematurely such as pollution, tobacco smoke, industrial chemicals, excessive refined-carbohydrate and sugar consumption and sun exposure.

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant found in red wine, pistachios, grapes, some berries, cocoa and dark chocolate. It has amazing anti-inflammatory properties which contributes to our health and wellbeing and anti-ageing. This antioxidant is responsible for the stimulation of collagen type I and II production, and can protect cells against oxidative damage associated with the effects of free radicals and UV radiation on the skin.

It’s recommended that we need around 40mg of resveratrol per day to see the true health benefits before you rush out to buy a bottle of red, one glass of red wine contains only 1mg of resveratrol and drinking 40 glasses of red wine per day is definitely not recommended for a healthy lifestyle. Supplementation is therefore necessary.
