What is World Mental Health Day?
Every year on the 10th October, the World Health Organisation recognises World Mental Health Day. According to the World Health Organisation, prevention is at the heart of what they do. They say: “Our knowledge, informed by rigorous research and practical based study, has been pioneering change for more than 70 years and we aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo or tackle difficult or under researched issues.”
Their aim is to build a society where mental health is everyone’s business and prevention is possible. And we couldn’t agree more!
Mental health in the workplace
Mental health problems are extremely common in the workplace and it’s actually the leading cause of sickness absence. According to the Mental Health Foundation, 70 million work days are lost each year due to mental health problems in the UK, costing employers approximately £2.4 billion per year.
Statistics around UK mental health
And it’s not surprising; one in six adults has a common mental disorder in the UK.
The most common mental disorder in Britain is mixed anxiety and depression, with 7.8% of people meeting criteria for diagnosis.
In England women are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders as men.
In a 2018 poll, 74% of people said they felt so stressed they had been overwhelmed or unable to cope and since the pandemic hit, we’ve been seeing more cases.
46% of people suffering from stress reported that they ate too much or ate unhealthily due to stress. 29% reported that they started drinking or increased their drinking, and 16% reported that they started smoking or increased their smoking.
And there are lots of reasons that people suffer from stress. Common causes of stress include health concerns relating to loved ones, money and debt worries, housing issues, body image concerns and work pressures.
NAD+ IV therapy for stress, depression and anxiety
There are many coping mechanisms and treatments for stress, depression and anxiety once you’re already suffering from them. Many people who suffer from stress and anxiety find meditation can help and there are various apps you can use such as Headspace that can help you whenever you need it and wherever you are.
Of course there are various prescription drugs that your doctor can prescribe. Propranolol is a common anti-anxiety medication and one of the most common drugs you can take to help combat depression is citalopram. Citalopram is a type of antidepressant known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It is effective but works best when combined with some sort of therapy such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
However, here at NADclinic, our focus is on NAD+.
NAD+ (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is found in all living cells. This miracle co-factor molecule is essential in promoting cellular regeneration, metabolising food into energy, fighting illness, helping prevent ageing and even repairing damaged DNA.
It naturally occurs in our bodies, but over time, our levels naturally decline. Other factors can reduce our NAD+ levels such as environmental toxins, smoking and alcohol consumption.
However, if we boost our NAD+ levels, wonderful things happen. And it can even help with stress, anxiety and depression.
NAD+ boosts the body’s ability to recover from stress and has been shown to be highly effective in elevating mood and reversing feelings of depression and anxiety.
Additionally, NAD+ has also been shown to replenish the neurotransmitters which have been depleted because of the constant state of activation of the nervous system and body.
Our NAD+ IV Infusions go straight to your bloodstream to replenish levels of NAD+. Based in the Harley Street District London and Cape Town South Africa we are research driven cellular innovators and NAD+ pioneers. Consistently delivering IV infusions that work, we optimise your cellular health so that you can get on with living your best life.
This World Mental Health Day, if you’re sick of suffering from stress, depression or anxiety and would like to know how our NAD+ IV infusion therapy can help you, contact the clinic today.
