What is the link between our metabolism and NAD+?

What is our metabolism?

Our metabolism is basically a collection of chemical reactions that occur within our body. They include a wide range of reactions that both create and utilise various chemical components within the body.

We need our metabolism in order to stay alive. Once our metabolic function stops, we stop living. But before that happens, our metabolic function can become disrupted or slow down. This is what we’ve come to know as disease and old age.

But one major symptom of a disrupted metabolism is weight gain.

Enzymes and our metabolism

Enzymes and their coenzymes are a really important part of healthy metabolic function. Our cells use enzymes to trade molecules whilst coenzymes help make it easier for cells to utilise enzymes. One important coenzyme is nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+).

NAD+’s role in our metabolism

The sum of all metabolic chemical reactions in the body is called our basal metabolic rate or BMR and this is what is linked to our weight. When BMR is depressed, the body struggles to create and supply energy to cells. When BMR is healthy, cells have enough energy to function. And that’s all to do with our NAD+ levels.

NAD+ is a crucial coenzyme within our body because it is one of only a few coenzymes that ensure cells have enough energy to perform at optimum levels.

When our NAD+ levels reduce, a chain reaction of failures occurs, affecting the metabolic function and the body’s ability to create and utilise energy. This can lead to issues within the body such as increased free radicals, fat build up, and cellular degeneration.

Basically, NAD+ is a crucial metabolic coenzyme, and is at the heart of our metabolic function because it’s responsible for ensuring that hundreds of metabolic chemical reactions in the body proceed smoothly.

Metabolic benefits of increasing NAD+ levels

As we age, our NAD+ levels decline which, as we’ve previously said, can cause all kinds of problems, most of which we associate with “ageing.” But we can biohack our bodies by boosting our NAD+ levels. And one of the best ways to do that is through an IV infusion.

NAD+ IV infusion therapy can benefit our metabolism in a number of ways, helping to:

  • Boost Cellular Metabolism
  • Increase Resting Metabolism
  • Reverse the Effects of Ageing on Metabolism
  • Burn Fat
  • Keep Weight Off

At NADclinic, we even have our own NAD+ weight loss infusion especially designed for fat loss. Alongside a healthy lifestyle, our Fat Burner IV Infusion can help peel off those stubborn pounds that become increasingly hard to shift as we get older. Our weight loss infusion is available as a stand alone infusion or as part of an intensive programme, depending on your requirements and your desired results.

Contact the clinic to find out more information about our NAD+ weight loss infusions.
