So you’re trying to quit smoking – congratulations! Deciding to kick the habit is the first step in becoming the best version of yourself you can be. But with an array of quit smoking aids at your disposal, which one is going to best help you succeed on your smoke-free journey?
Problems with nicotine gum use
Many go down the nicotine gum route to help them give up smoking but find that they’ve simply replaced one addiction with another. Most nicotine gum manufacturers advise people to stop using the nicotine gum after around 12 weeks, but many people stay on it for months longer, even years.
Whilst switching from smoking cigarettes to chewing gum is clearly a better option in terms of long-term health, constantly chewing gum can actually cause problems of its own – namely jaw pain. But it can also contribute to IBS, as excess air can be swallowed, which contributes to abdominal pain and bloating.
And a gum addiction can become quite the financial burden too. The cost associated with long-term nicotine gum use can work out about the same as a pack-and-a-half-a-day smoking habit.
Some people who do end up throwing out the gum experience withdrawal symptoms, not unlike those associated with stopping smoking. These withdrawal effects can include headaches, as well as irritability, depression, and difficulty concentrating. Many more choose to stay on the gum for months or years because of their fear of slipping back into cigarette use.
But there is an alternative to nicotine gum – NAD+ IV therapy.
NAD+ IV therapy
NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) IV therapy helps to alleviate withdrawal symptoms when trying to stop smoking and helps the body flush out the toxins more effectively.
NAD+ is something we all have in our bodies and boosting our levels brings about many benefits, such as helping to fight signs of ageing and maintaining energy levels and mental clarity. But it can also be used to help overcome addiction.
Nicotinamide in NAD+ is actually structurally similar to nicotine. When nicotine is present in the body there is competition for nicotinamide enzyme binding sites, leading to less NAD+ being absorbed into cells in the presence of nicotine. When using NAD+ supplements to quit smoking, depleted NAD+ reserves are replenished and dependency on nicotine is reduced.
Through NAD+ IV therapy you can:
- Curb cravings
- Manage withdrawal symptoms
- Feel detoxed & energised
