IV Therapy vs. Laser therapy: Which is best for skin pigmentation?

What causes skin pigmentation?

Our skin is the largest organ we have and many factors can affect the look, feel and texture of the skin. Hyperpigmentation or skin pigmentation is caused by an increase in melanin; the natural pigment that gives our skin, hair and eyes their colour. A number of things can cause the body to produce more melanin including sun exposure, hormonal influences, age and skin injuries or inflammation. This results in darkening of the skin and an uneven skin tone. However, skin brightening treatment is available.

Treating skin pigmentation

There are a few different ways of treating skin pigmentation and brightening the skin but the two most popular are IV therapy and laser therapy. But which one works best?

Laser therapy for skin brightening

Laser therapy uses a laser to lighten blemishes or dark patches of your skin. This works by either removing the outer layer of skin or damaging the cells that produce melanin. Laser therapy may work for some people, while for others it may not have any effect, or the skin lightening result may only be temporary. Laser therapy targets specific areas of skin and penetrates just below the skin’s surface so can be rather uncomfortable and sometimes painful, especially in sensitive areas.

IV therapy for skin brightening

IV therapy however, transforms skin from the inside out. Using a bespoke infusion, including glutathione, the IV therapy suppresses melanin so the darker patches dont appear – without damaging the mechanism of the cells. Because therapy is delivered through a simple IV, there is no discomfort or pain experienced throughout the procedure.

Also through IV therapy, the whole body gets treated rather than just small patches of skin.

IV therapy is highly effective as the IV delivery system ensures maximum absorption of the cocktail, increasing its efficancy.
