‘Rehab’ and ‘alcohol detox’ can be delicate, uncomfortable subjects. But at NADclinic, we don’t see why that should be the case. After all, it’s estimated that more than half a million people in England are dependent drinkers, and in 2018-19, 75,000 of them sought therapy [Source].
Here at NADclinic, our IV drip therapies are powered by NAD+, which has an incredible range of benefits for your mental and physical health, plus your state of wellbeing. Our team brings together UK, US and SA NAD+ specialists, and our founder, Iain De Havilland, also co-founded the successful Step 1 Recover group
Here are 5 reasons why NAD+ is a better way to alcohol detox than traditional residential rehab.
Home & away
Residential rehab isn’t for everyone. During a time that’s already stressful and uncertain, being in accommodation with others who are going through the process can affect your own progress, and it can feel alienating to be away from friends and family, and a familiar setting.
With NADclinic, our detox IV drip program allows you to choose between having alcohol detoxification at home, at a convenient place such as a hotel, or even to tie the therapy to a break in a beautiful location, such as our South African detox experience. Of course, you can also alcohol detox in our state-of-the-art clinic.
Private care that’s really private
Something as private and personal as alcohol detox requires the ultimate discretion – especially if you’ve been living with a dependency, but still functioning well with work and in your personal life, and others may not know about your condition.
As well as handling every aspect of your therapy with sensitivity and without judgement, we can also make things that bit more comfortable and convenient – such as offering a concierge service for in-clinic therapy, which takes you door-to-door.
A fast and effective therapy
We can offer 5-10 days of NAD+ therapy to suit you, meaning you can do your detox IV drip therapy in as little as a week. While every individual and therapy plan is different, on some traditional residential rehab programs, it can take some weeks to fully detox.
What withdrawal?
When you suddenly stop drinking, or reduce the amount you drink, it can cause a range of symptoms known as ‘withdrawal’. At the lower end of the scale, they can be difficult to navigate and at the higher end of the scale, they can be dangerous. Symptoms can vary from extreme fatigue to nausea, sweating and muscle pain – and some people can experience seizures and hallucinations.
Traditional detox therapies use benzodiazepine to treat withdrawal symptoms. However, ‘benzos’ can enhance neurotoxic chemicals (such as glutamate) while reducing the effects of mood-boosting ones (such as dopamine), causing stress and anxiety. NAD+, on the other hand, offsets the effects of glutamate and therefore relieves stress and anxiety.
Set for success
We’re proud to say that our alcohol detox has a 90% success rate. In traditional residential rehabs, 31% of patients drop out before finishing their therapy, while 60% of those who do finish end up returning after 6 months[Source]
